Mars Arcade — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Mars Arcade is a free arcade game: you run, complete missions and compete with friends on result boards. It is available as an app for iPhone and Android and on the web at mars-arcade.com. This page says what the game keeps about you, why, who else handles it, and how to have it deleted.
Who is responsible, and how to reach us
Mars Arcade is © Ode Corporation. For any question about your data, write to support@mars-arcade.com.
What we keep
- Your player profile. It is made automatically when you start: a nickname (made up for you, or the one you choose), an identifier and a random key that your device keeps to prove the profile is yours. There is no password and no sign-up.
- Your progress and results. Your levels, scores, completed missions, and a record of the moves of your runs, which the server replays to check that a score is real before it goes on a board.
- Your friends. Who came by your invite link or whom you added by nickname. This is a list inside the game; we never read the contacts of your phone.
- Your email, only if you add one. It is optional. It is used to confirm that the profile is yours and to write to you when, for example, someone passes you on a board. Every such email has a link to stop them.
- Your country and region. The country comes from your phone's settings. The region is worked out from your IP address on our server, or chosen by you, so that boards can be shown for people near you. We do not use GPS or your precise location. The IP address is used for that lookup and is not stored with your profile.
- A push notification token and your notification setting, if you allow notifications in the app. It is used to tell you when someone passes you or your record falls.
- Data on your device. The game keeps your key and settings in the storage of the app or browser, so that you stay the same player between visits.
- Server logs. Our web server keeps technical logs of requests: IP address, time, the page or interface asked for, and the type of browser or app. They are kept for up to 14 days and used to find faults and to protect the service against abuse.
Why we use it
- To run the game and keep your progress.
- To check results and show boards, friends and rankings.
- To send the notices and emails you have allowed.
- To find faults and to protect the game against cheating and abuse.
If the law of your country asks for a legal basis (for example in the EU or the UK): the game itself, your profile and the boards rest on providing the service you asked for; logs, checking results and protection against abuse rest on our legitimate interest in running a safe game; email and push notifications rest on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see below).
What other players see
Your nickname, your results and your place on the boards are visible to other players, also on boards by country and by region. Your friends see you in their list with your best results. Your email, your key, your IP address and your push token are never shown to anyone.
Who else handles it
- Hosting. The game and its database run on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH located in the United States (Ashburn, Virginia).
- Email. Emails are sent from our own server. They then travel through the mail system of your email provider.
- Push notifications. They are sent through Expo's push notification service and then through Apple's or Google's notification service, which deliver them to your phone. They receive the push token and the text of the notice.
- App stores. If you install the app from the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google handle your download under their own policies.
Because the server and some of these services are in the United States, your data may be handled outside your own country.
Advertising and tracking
This version has no advertising, no in-app purchases, no sale of data, and no tracking of you across other apps or websites. We do not use an advertising identifier.
How long we keep it
- Profile, progress, results, friends, email and push tokens: until you delete your profile.
- Server logs: up to 14 days.
- Backups: data you delete is removed from the live game at once. If copies exist in backups, they remain there until the backup is replaced in the normal course, and they are not used for the game.
Deleting your data and your rights
You can delete your profile yourself, inside the game, at any time: Profile → Account → Delete account, tapped twice to confirm. It is permanent and removes your nickname, email, friends, progress, results, board places and push tokens. Emails and notifications to you stop. This is different from Start over, which only clears your progress and keeps the profile.
If you do not have the game installed, see how to ask for deletion. You can also ask us to show you, correct or delete your data, or object to how it is used, by writing to support@mars-arcade.com. You can stop emails with the link in each email, and turn off push notifications in your phone's settings. If you live in the EU, the UK or another place with data protection law, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
All traffic between the game and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). The profile key is stored on our server only as a one-way hash. Access to the server is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Children
Mars Arcade is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes, and for large changes we will say so in the game.
